It is with deep sadness that I share the news that Robin Cogan, author of The Relentless School Nurse, passed away early this morning.

Many of you may remember Robin as the keynote speaker at the Colorado Association of School Nurses (CASN) Fall Conference several years ago. She was truly relentless in her advocacy for school nurses and the children they serve-not only in her home state of New Jersey, but across the nation.

Robin was a passionate advocate for immigrant families and children, speaking out against deportation policies that harmed vulnerable students. She worked tirelessly to advance stronger gun safety legislation and frequently presented on this topic at conferences nationwide, including those hosted by the National Association of School Nurses (NASN). She was also a steadfast supporter of childhood immunizations and was actively involved with Grandparents for Vaccines.

Through her writing and advocacy as The Relentless School Nurse, Robin fearlessly addressed difficult issues affecting children, families, schools, and the nursing profession. She believed deeply in the power of school nurses to create change and consistently used her voice to advocate for those who needed it most.

Robin served as a Director and member of the NASN Executive Board, where she mentored and inspired countless school nurses across the country. Her leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to social justice and student health left a lasting impact on our profession.

Beyond her many accomplishments, Robin was my friend. I am grateful for the opportunity to have known her, learned from her, and worked alongside her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of advocacy, courage, and compassion will continue to inspire school nurses for years to come.

    May she rest in peace.

This is such devastating news.  Robin was loved and admired and gave so much to our school nursing community and to the children and families of this country.  May our memories of her inspire us to "Be Relentless"!

This is, indeed, very sad news.  I had the privilege of hearing Robin speak many years ago, as Laura mentioned.  Go in peace, Robin, and know that your legacy will live on in the hearts and actions of school nurses everywhere!
