Dear Colorado School Nurses,
Our Diabetes Resource Nurses of Colorado (DRNs) are highly skilled school nurses and public health nurses who provide support throughout Colorado to make sure our students with Type 1 Diabetes are safe in school and ready to learn. Currently, there are over 3500 children living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. According to the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, approximately 400 more are diagnosed each year.
The Colorado Kids with Diabetes Website is an excellent resource and has been a model for other states. Their mission is "to ensure safe, evidence-based care for children with diabetes in Colorado schools and childcare settings." As a school nurse, if you have received support from one of our Diabetes Resource Nurses (DRNs), you know how important their mission is in keeping students with Type 1 Diabetes safe in school. Several DRNs presented at our CASN Conference this past November at a Pre-Conference and/or during our General Session on Sunday.
There are a lot of great organizations to give to. Their organization is 100% tax deductible. Please consider a donation on this Colorado Gives Day to this or any other organization that makes our communities great. Please see the attachment.
